Swank (Spec)

I noticed creative professionals are constantly moving between coffee shops and coworking spaces, trying to meet two different needs at once.

Coffee shops give you this sense of ambient community. There’s people around, movement, music and it feels organic. You can work alone while still feeling connected, BUT it’s inconsistent. You don’t know if you’ll get a seat, outlets, if they'll have food etc, so there’s always a bit of planning and uncertainty - which is annoying.

Coworking spaces solve for structure and reliability. You know what you’re getting, but then the social dynamic can feel unclear. Do you talk? Do you not? It can feel like you’re constantly feeling insecure about how to work in the space.

What I kept coming back to is that people like being working around other people in a buzzing environment, yet if they are paying for a niche space, they want the socialization to come easy.

My Approach

Swank was positioned as an answer to that tension. The strategy focused on combining structure and personality into a place that feels consistent, welcoming and easy to return to.

The brand was built as a membership based coffee shop for creative professionals who want reliability and community that comes easy. That balance was used as the foundation for everything from messaging and visual identity to social content, paid ads and web presence.

Brand color system designed to balance professionalism with warmth, reinforcing a workspace that feels structured, but still aesthetic across brand channels.

Photography direction developed to define the visual world of Swank, showing how the space feels in use and attracting creative professionals who value a good atmosphere and focus.
